Wheat Intolerance Symptoms - Can This Be What's Making You Feel Sick?

Wheat intolerance symptoms can be as mild as increased flatulence to severe stomach cramps and vomiting. There are quite a few other symptoms including diarrhea, nausea, eczema and other skin related conditions to name a few. Some of these symptoms could be what's making you feel sick.

After eating foods that contain or were prepared using wheat, believe it or not 1 in 7 or 15% of us will have a reaction to the protein in wheat called gluten. This reaction usually has a delayed onset of up to 2 or 3 days, for this reason it can be difficult for doctors to diagnose. Wheat intolerance is one of a handful of common food intolerances, but don't worry you can't catch it from anyone it's in your genes.

Wheat became popular during the agricultural revolution some 10,000 years ago, up until then people ate lean meats, seafood, fruit and non starchy vegetables. For this reason most human's digestive system has trouble digesting wheat and or gluten. When we eat wheat or foods that have wheat in them we produce a chemical called Zonulin, Zonulin allows toxins to pass through the intestinal wall into our bloodstream. This is often referred to as leaky gut syndrome and can cause many health issues.

When people say they are wheat intolerant they really mean they have sensitivity to gluten. Gluten sensitivity is much more likely in the cases of wheat sensitive adults and can be successfully treated with a gluten free diet. Recovery is usually dramatic as people begin to feel better than they have for many years. Beyond the obvious improvements following a gluten free diet, people have seen a slowing or even a reversing of the signs of aging, reducing wrinkles and improvements in the tone and texture of their skin.
